PJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel is the most renewed nickel & palladium producer now this company announces preliminary consolidated production results for a percentage for the third quarter & nine months of 2017. In 3Q17 the nickel production of this company is increased up to 10% as Talnakh Concentrator reached its design parameters. At the same time, Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta nickel is also restarted its operations after completion of the repair works in 2Q17. In general, the copper production is also decreased due to the problems occurred in the Polar division.
Platinum Group Metals
The consolidated palladium and platinum output in 3Q17 is 693 koz is down 11% q-o-q as well as 174 koz by 8% q-o-q respectively. Even the Palladium output from the Company’s own Russian feed is also reached 687 koz and down 9% q-o-q. In addition to this, the platinum output is also reached 172 koz and down 6% q-o-q.
Krasnoyarsk Precious Metals Plant
In 9M17, palladium and platinum output is also increased by 2% y-o-y and flat y-o-y respectively. Overall, the increase in palladium output is also attributed to the change in metal content in mined ore.
In 3Q17, amount of nickel production to 54 kt is also increased 10% quarter-on-quarter as well as the nickel output from the Company’s own Russian feed reached 53 kt, up 10% q-o-q. The continuous growth also increased production at Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta. In 9M17, nickel output amounted to 157 kt as well as this will decreasing 11% year-on-year. This will be reduced due to the low-margin processing of third parties feed. The reconfiguration of downstream production facilities affects the output. Overall, the Russian feed reached 150 kt, up 4% y-o-y, as Talnakh Concentrator reached its design parameters.
In 3Q1 the production of copper reached to 96 kt, down 4% q-o-q. As well as a decrease of copper production also attributed to temporary suspensions due to the unfavourable meteorological conditions in Norilsk. To overcome this issues the company also plans to process accumulated concentrate in 4Q17 and this process could compensate for the decrease in copper volumes. In 9M17, copper output amounted to 291 kt and it will be 10% y-o-y.
In 2H16 all saleable nickel has been produced at two production sites, it was occurred due to the shutdown of Nickel plant. In 3Q17, nickel output in Russia amounted to 39 kt, up 1% q-o-q. As well as in 9M17, nickel output in Russia and down 18% y-o-y.
